Our client, a privately owned construction and service company, is seeking an accomplished and experienced Controller to join their executive team.  This company has had a track record of growth and success both organically and through acquisition.  The company is in the plumbing, heating, air conditioning and heating fuel business.  The business is located in Southern Maine’s Coastal area.

The Controller will be responsible for:
  • Budget preparation and timely financial reporting.
  • Supervising all finance personnel and overseeing the financial operations of the company.
  • Collecting, managing and analyzing financial data while monitoring the company’s financial health.
  • Streamlining the financial reporting, payroll, and budgeting processes.
  • Producing thorough and timely financial status reports to senior managers to help improve operational efficiency and aid in the continued growth.
  • Keeping track of and managing cash flow and expenditures.
  • Filing and meeting all tax reporting requirements.
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining financial controls and guidelines.
  • Developing and enforcing internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows.
  • Maximizing the utilization of accounting and operating software.
  • Helping develop and support short-and-long term operational strategies.
  • Fostering a culture of continuous learning and accountability.
Experience required for the Controller:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in financial roles.
  • Financial Leadership: 3 years required.
  • Financial leadership experience at a construction and/or service company.
  • Proficiency in accounting and operational software.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
