Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Staff Accountant to join our client’s team. Our client is an employee-focused manufacturing organization in Southern Maine. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing general ledger activities, journal entries, accounts receivable and payable, and ensuring smooth day-to-day financial operations. Proficiency in accounting software and general office tools is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and manage the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Process and review journal entries to support financial reporting.
  • Oversee accounts receivable and payable, including analysis, management, and reporting.
  • Utilize accounting and office software to maintain financial records and streamline operations.
  • Assist in financial reconciliations and month-end closing procedures.

Preferred (but not required) Skills:

  • Payroll processing and administration.
  • 401(k) plan administration and compliance.
  • Federal & state income tax knowledge and assistance with tax-related filings.
  • Maine State Unemployment Tax (ME SUT) reporting and compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with accounting software and general office applications.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
