Temporary Staff Accountant (Sourthern Maine)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Staff Accountant to join our client’s team. Our client is an employee-focused manufacturing organization in Southern Maine. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing general ledger activities, journal entries, accounts receivable and payable, and ensuring smooth day-to-day financial operations. Proficiency in accounting software and general office tools is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and manage the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Process and review journal entries to support financial reporting.
- Oversee accounts receivable and payable, including analysis, management, and reporting.
- Utilize accounting and office software to maintain financial records and streamline operations.
- Assist in financial reconciliations and month-end closing procedures.
Preferred (but not required) Skills:
- Payroll processing and administration.
- 401(k) plan administration and compliance.
- Federal & state income tax knowledge and assistance with tax-related filings.
- Maine State Unemployment Tax (ME SUT) reporting and compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience with accounting software and general office applications.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
