Controller
The Controller will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for managing all accounting aspects of the Company and its related affiliates.
This position requires a strategic thinker who can navigate intricate financial landscapes, implement robust systems, and ensure compliance with tax regulations and GAAP standards. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with exceptional analytical skills, capable of driving financial excellence and contributing to the company’s growth and success.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations for multiple real estate development projects and operating companies, including AP, AR, general ledger, and financial reporting.
- Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to optimize financial stability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely financial data.
- Create annual budgets, working closely with department heads and project managers.
- Monitor budget performance, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions.
- Develop financial forecasts to guide decision-making and resource allocation.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for management and external stakeholders.
- Oversee all job-cost related allocations, tracking, and reporting
- Provide insightful analysis of financial results, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP principles and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors to manage tax planning, compliance, and reporting.
- Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Work closely with executives and department heads to align financial strategies with business objectives.
- Evaluate existing financial systems and recommend enhancements for efficiency and accuracy.
- Implement best practices for financial controls, data integrity, and automation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the finance function.
Successful candidates will have a minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Experience in real estate, construction, or property management would be ideal.
Skills/Abilities:

- Competence with financial software and technology – experience with real estate systems a plus
- Understanding of financial and accounting standards and regulations
- Must be highly analytical, solutions-oriented, and able to see the “big picture”
- Ability to excel in an agile, flexible, high-growth, scaling fast-paced environment
- Strong Leadership skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel.

- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or MBA preferred.
- CPA or CMA designation is highly preferred.
Salary will depend on experience and the compensation package includes a bonus and full benefits.
