Business Analyst (Transportation IT Projects)

Our client is seeking a Business Analyst with a focus on transportation IT projects. In this role, you will lead business analysis efforts for various transportation related initiatives as part of a larger modernization program aimed at upgrading their technology systems. This position requires strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills, as well as a collaborative approach to working with internal teams, executives, and stakeholders. You’ll work closely with the project management office to ensure the successful delivery of IT projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead business process analysis for transportation-related IT projects.
  • Define project scope, business needs, expected outcomes, and acceptance criteria.
  • Develop and maintain business analysis and requirements management plans.
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings and workshops to gather and clarify business requirements.
  • Collaborate with teams to design optimized business processes and IT solutions.
  • Document functional requirements, test plans, use cases, and related project documentation.
  • Oversee implementation of IT systems, ensuring alignment with business needs and compliance with expectations.
  • Support the change management process and provide training materials for system users.
  • Participate in procurement activities and help define project goals, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Communicate project progress and outcomes to stakeholders, ensuring alignment and managing expectations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in business analysis, business process analysis, and project facilitation (7+ years of experience may substitute for a degree).
  • Proven ability to analyze, document, and optimize business processes within an IT context.
  • Strong experience in requirement gathering, stakeholder management, and project documentation.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies such as Waterfall and Agile.
  • Proficient in tools such as MS Teams, SharePoint, and other collaboration platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in IT system implementation, testing, and change management.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and lead cross-functional teams.
