Engineering Manager
The manager is responsible for the financial performance of group, proposal preparation, client presentation and relationship management. They will develop strategic business plans, including securing new and repetitive business.
This position will participate in annual business planning sessions with the senior leadership team to assess our client’s weaknesses, strengths, threats and opportunities with the intending outcome of better understanding potential risks in opportunities, review against core competencies of group and position company to maximize potential for success.
Incumbent will manage and maintain business systems including but not limited to time reporting, invoicing, estimating, engineering standards, project controls and monthly status updates.
Essential Functions of Position:
- Manage Staff (hiring, firing, training, coaching, mentoring)
- Manage financial performance of group.
- Manage work priorities of group and remove obstacles which impede success.
- Evaluate group performance and seek opportunities to continuously improve quantity without compromise to quality.
- Prepare proposals and present to clients
- Manage resource loading requirements.
- Market and sell Engineering and Design services
- Develop growth plans
- Maintain existing and develop new client relationships.
- Seek out new business opportunities and report finding to owner.
- Continuously assess business risks, threats, weaknesses, opportunities and strengths and align staffing competencies accordingly.
- A Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology degree from an ABET accredited engineering school.
- Minimum of seven (10) years of professional experience with substation design, controls and protective relaying, civil, mechanical and structural design within the Utility Industry or similar (ie. Heavy Manufacturing).
- Minimum of (7) years experience with construction in the Utility Industry or similar (ie. Heavy Manufacturing).
- Management of technical staff of 10 or more in Consulting Environment preferred.
- Project Management experience desired.
- Recognized expert in Utility/Power Engineering Field preferred.
- Relationships with New England Utilities preferred.
